Children love to have books read to them, as well as being surprised with something to
make them smile. This true experience about a special bunny that was a gift from nature.

Marie read her book to the kindergarten class at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. The students were asked to draw a picture about something in the book.

Wiggle Wiggle Jiggle
Are you thinking about your favorite flavored gelatin? Or, do
you prefer to choose a neon color to tickle your tastebuds? Your
mouth is watering and you can't wait to dig your spoon into that
bright, sweet treat. As you scoop it out, it gives way to a strong, slurping
sound, and sometimes you need a little more energy to get it out of the
container. Finally, the wiggle and jiggle of this yummy blob fills the spoon
and is ready to be eaten. Open wide! It jiggles on the spoon, and will soon
wiggle in your belly. Sometimes it jiggles off the spoon, and you have to
try to pick it up and put it in your mouth.
It sits in your mouth and is very cold, but ohhhh so delicious! As
yummy as this melt-in-your-mouth dessert is, there are a lot of benefits
you get from eating gelatin.
It is easy to prepare, and not expensive. It is low-fat, low-sodium, heart
healthy, gluten free, and contains fiber. It also has protein, Vit.C, Vit. A,
calcium, and iron. Sugar free gelatin is available too. When a child or an
adult is sick and not able to eat, give unjelled, room temperature gelatin.
Some prefer gelatin plain, or you can open a can of fruit peices, drain, and
add them in. When all is ready, serve with a whipped cream topping; you
can even add sprinkles , and that will make you smile...as the gelatin
wiggles, wiggles and jiggles in your tummy!

Something to make you smile...
Q. How do you make GOLD soup?
A. With 22 carrots!
Q. What do ducks have for lunch?
A. Soup and quackers!
One rabbit invited another rabbit to have lunch with him. He said, "Soup is for lunch. Would you like to join me in a bowl of soup?"
The other rabbit looked at him, twitched his nose, and said, "Do you think we will both fit?"
Mother's Want to Know "Why Soup?"
All kidding aside, soup has been around for centuries, and has many nutrients that your body needs. Your body is 70% water, so you need to replace the water you have lost during the day with good food, and lots to drink. If we didn't replenish the water we lost, we could only survive for 4 days.
There are so many varieties of soup. It is easy to make; most of the time you can take leftover vegetables from your refrigerator and add a little of this and a little of that to the pot of boiling water. Before you know it...voila!
Your soup will have protein, necessary for growth of body tissue and for maintenance, carbohydrates, that provide energy, vitamins, necessary for growth and health development, minerals, to help nerve and muscle function and carry oxygen through your body.
Remember, when you feel like you are getting a cold, or just under the weather, cook up a batch of homemade soup. When you are feeling sick, warm liquids are the best, and soup can be a cure-all if you stick with it.
SIMPLE HOMEMADE VEGETABLE SOUP
In a large saucepan, put four quarts of water. Bring to a boil, and then lower to medium heat. Add a half of an onion, sliced, black pepper, 2 medium chicken bouillion cubes, 1/4 cup olive oil, OR canola oil, 2 sliced carrots, 1/2 celery stalk, sliced, 1 tablespoonful of tomato paste, small potato, diced, 1/2 cup frozen peas, 1/2 cup barley, and /or brown rice, 1/2 teaspoon of parsley, and 1 clove of garlic, sliced.
Barley and brown rice are much better for you, but you can put in 1/2 cup of pastene, or the macaroni of your choice: elbows, ditalini, chinese noodles, etc...
Optional: chick peas (drained), beans, spinach. You may add 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder, or 1/2 teaspoon of tumeric. Maybe you would like to add one tablesponful of oatmeal, uncooked.
Let slow boil for about one hour, stirring every 10 minutes. Scoop into a soup bowl and if you prefer, sprinkle some parmesian or romano cheese over. Dunk in your favorite Italian bread, or enjoy with your favorite crackers. A great comfort food, that not only warms you all over, but it heals you all over, as well.
